Asthma and Fatty foods
A recent study conducted on asthma patients has come up with shocking results. Study found that patiets who ate high fat meal did not respond favourably to asthma treatment. The results of the study have strengthed the opinion that environmental factors such as diet can influence the development of asthma.
"If these results can be confirmed by further research, this suggests that strategies aimed at reducing dietary fat intake may be useful in managing asthma," study researcher Lisa Wood, of the University of Newcastle, told LiveScience in an e-mail. The results were presented at American Thoracic Society's International Conference.
Previous studies did show that fatty foods trigger immune system, which lead to increase of cells that cause inflammation, but nobody looked at the effect of fatty food on astma before. The study found that inflammation caused by the reaction to the fatty foods choke airwaves and increases risk of asthma.
