Recent Study shows "Obesity and Asthma linked"
Though the reasons are still unclear but a recent study confirms a link between asthma and obesity. The study examined 4500 men and women in the Palo Alto Medical Research Institute in California. About a third were overweight and another third were listed as obese.
The research observed that while 8% had asthma, 41% had some type of allergy. Researchers found that as the body mass index increased and waist size expanded the likelihood of asthma increased. Scientists say that more research is needed to find exact reasons accounting for higher risk of asthma among obese individuals.
The study appears in the May 7 edition of the medical journal Allergy.
